Cottbus-Nord Airport Museum

The Flugplatzmuseum Cottbus (Cottbus Airfield Museum) is an aviation museum at Cottbus Airfield in Brandenburg, Germany.

The airfield at Cottbus was put into operation in 1939. New pilots were trained there until 1941. Stuka units were also stationed here, preparing for the attack on the Soviet Union.

In 1941, Focke-Wulf became a large factory where thousands of workers assembled the Fw 200, Fw 190, and later the Ta 152. Despite heavy American aerial bombardments in 1944, production continued until it was halted in early 1945 as the front line approached and the factory was evacuated to Bremen.

From January 1945, Cottbus-Nord was a front-line airfield. Several groups flew missions from here against the advancing Red Army.
