Memorial Captain William Leefe Robinson VC

This memorial commemorates Captain William Leefe Robinson VC, who shot down the first German airship over Great Britain at this location on September 3, 1916.
In April 1917, he was taken prisoner of war by the Germans. He returned home after the war, but died just 17 days later, on 31 December 1918.
