French Wargraves D’ Ascq

The French cemetery of honor includes both civilian and military victims of both world wars. Although they died under different circumstances, they are all considered war victims and bear the title "Mort pour la France" (Death for France).

Marga Henri, a sergeant in the 45th Infantry Regiment, was killed in action at Mametz on the Somme on the 17th December 1914.
Priest Auguste Parent died of the Spanish flu on the 18th July 1918.
The four-month-old girl Brunin Françoise Laurette, born on the 30 January 1940, died on the 22nd May 1940, from the effects of the war in Fleurbaix.
Louis died on the 22nd April 1944, after his liberation by Soviet troops in Stalag III A in Luckenwalde (Brandenburg, Germany).
