Memorial Keys Ypres Henri Carton

During the First World War, over 700 civilian casualties occurred in Ypres.

To commemorate the civilian victims of Ypres, Amsterdam artist Jeroen Bisscheroux designed a bronze key. Each key bears the name of one victim, along with their date of death and age. The keys are placed in the streetscape at locations that directly relate to the circumstances or place of death of the person in question.

This memorial key was erected in memory of Henri Carton, who died on April 19, 1915. He was 57 years old.
