War Memorial Parish of Hutton Roof

This memorial, at the St. John's Church, commemorates the members of the parish of Hutton Roof
who gave their lives in the First World War.
One of them was Theodore Hardy VC DSO MC who was priest here at Hutton Roof when the First World War broke out. He served as an army chaplain and was killed on 18 October 1918 becoming one of the most highly decorated non-combatants of the war.
