Memorial Forced Labor Camp Hunswinkel

Where now the lake is located, was from 1938 tot 1945 the forced labor camp Hunswinkel, of which the inmates had to construct the dam. The camp was owned by the Gestapo and the conditions were extremely heavy. More then 550 inmates died in the camp, of which many were shot.

The original monument was stolen in 2014, presumably by metal thieves. Not much later a new monument was erected instead.
