Resistance Memorial Chalon-sur-Saône

This monument commemorates 11 resistance fighters who were shot by the Germans in July and August 1944.
The French text on the monument reads:
‘En mémoire des 11 patriotes fusillés par les allemands en julliet et Août 1944’

(In memory of the 11 patriots executed by the Germans in July and August 1944).

The names of these resistance fighters were:

Ernest Bertin
Maurice Bonnet
Andre Cauron
Gustave Collin
Georges Klimenko
Jean Lessaque
Michel Pytys
Vincent Sleis
And three unknown victims.
