Memorial Interned Poles Egelsee

This plaque is in memory of the Polish internees who worked on this road from 12 November to 21 March 1941.

Polish soldiers who crossed the Swiss border in 1940 to escape the German army were interned in several camps by the Swiss authority. From 1940, these 12,000 Polish soldiers were used for the construction of roads used for military purpose.
