Commonwealth War Graves Wavre

At the general cemetery in Wavre are 20 Commonwealth war graves. 13 of these graves are from World War II. There are graves of soldiers who died in May 1940 and during the liberation of Wavre. There are also five graves of the crew of the Whitley Z6466, the plane departed on August 24, 1941 at 2009 from Airbase Middleton St.George with a bombing mission to the city of Düsseldorf in Germany. The plane crashed for unknown reasons near Wavre, all crew members died and were buried here.

The seven graves from World War I are from soldiers who died just after the war as a result of the Spanish flu.
