War Memorial Castlewellan and Ansboro

This memorial commemorates the residents of Castlewellan and Ansboro who were killed or missing in World War I (37 names) and World War II (14 names).

Many of these memorials were erected after the First World War. After the Second World War, the names of those who died in that war were also added to the memorial.

From 8 June 1942 on, the US Army 141st Armored Signal Company trained in Castlewellan. This small memorial stone at the war memorial commemorates this fact.
