Memorial "De Volharding" (Noorderbegraafplaats)

The monument "De Volharding" at the cemetery in Vlissingen, in memory of eight girls working at the Steam Laundry "De Volharding" when they were killed by the bombing on May 31 1943 in Vlissingen. The age of the girls was between 14 to 22 years. The name of the eighth girl is not mentioned on the monument because she is buried on Oost-Souburg Cemetery (2C-194). Her name was Maatje Marina Lobbezoo: born in Oost- en West Souburg on October 13, 1928.
