Chiran Kamikaze and Peace Memorial Museum

Chiran served as the main kamikaze sortie base for Imperial Japanese Army attacks on Allied ships around Okinawa. Chiran Peace Museum opened in 1975 on the site of the Chiran Air Base in order to commemorate the kamikaze pilots who fell for Japan. The museum contains a number of fighter planes in its collection.
