Shipwreck 'SS Thistlegorm'

The 'SS Thistlegorm'was a British armed merchant Navy ship built in 1940. The ship was sunk on 6 October 1941 by two Heinkel He-111 bombers of the Luftwaffe in the Red Sea.

The 'SS Thistlegorm' today:
It lies currently at the bottom of the sea at a depth of 30 meters (100 fts). It can be reached by diving with diving equipment.

This shipwreck is still considered to be the last resting place for 9 killed British seamen and soldiers. While diving at this site, please treat human remains and their personal belongings with respect.

The Times named the 'SS Thistlegorm' as one of the top ten wreck diving sites in the world.
