Shipwreck "Kinugawa Maru"

The "Kinugawa Maru" was a Japanese transport ship which beached here on 15 November 1942. Later that day, U.S. fighters and artillery attacked the ship and the ship USS "Meade" DD-602 opened fire with its 5" shells on the ship for an hour, leaving it burning.

The "Kinugawa Maru" today:
It lies currently for a small part above sea. The remaing part can only be reached by diving with diving equipment.

This shipwreck is still considered to be the last resting place for Japanese seamen and soldiers. While diving at this site, please treat human remains and their personal belongings with respect.
