Memorial HMS Cricket

This memorial is located at the Manor Farm Country Park and commemorates the naval base HMS Cricket which was located here, which was used to train the crews of the landing craft used during the invasion of Normandy.

HMS CRICKET
COMBINED OPERATIONS AND
LANDING CRAFT BASE
1943 - 1946
To honour the memory of those members of the landing craft crews who sailed from this base and gave their lives during the D-Day landings in Normandy and in later sea-borne operations.
Also to commemorate the vital part played by all personnel from HMS Cricket in the liberation of Europe and the final victory
