This memorial and war cemetery (Memorial de la Pezade - La Couvertoirade) commemorates 23 French members of the resistance who were killed on 22 August 1944, when a resistance-group came to fight with German troops on their return from a sabotage-action at the Col d'Escalette. None of the resistance-fighters survived.
