Memorial Destruction and Reconstruction Prinzipalmarkt / St. Lamberti Kirche Münster

During World War II, most buildings at the Prenzipalmarkt were severely damaged or completely destroyed due to air raides of RAF Bomber Command. The reconstruction of the buildings around the market occurred between 1948 and 1964. There is tried to repair the buildings into the same charm as before. This was mainly achieved by rebuilding the buildings on their original plots with original materials. Those who currently walk trough the Prinzipalmarkt sees little of the devastation that was made, some plaques like this, however, tell the story. In the pictures you see the destruction in 1944 of the Prenzipalmarkt and the Rathaus (Town Hall) that lies at it.s.
