Lavenham Airfield

Lavenham Airfield operated from March 1944 through August 1945 during World War II. The 487th Bombardment Group of the US Army Air Force was stationed here. They have carried out 185 missions and more than six thousand flights from this base.

At the airfield is a monument to the 487th bomb group. There is still a preserved mural from the Second World War in the control tower.

RAF Lavenham was also known as USAAF Station 137.
