This fort was part of the Metaxis line on Greece's northern border with Bulgaria during World War II.

On 6 and 7 April 1941, the fort was fought over between Greek and German troops (supported by Bulgarian troops).

The fort was later converted into a museum. The museum currently houses firearms, hand grenades, uniforms, personal equipment and the like. It also houses a battle map of the battle of the fort.
