Commonwealth War Grave Mornay

On the Municipal Cemetery in Mornay is a Commonwealth war grave from the Second World War. This is the tomb of F/O Brian Joseph Lincoln Armitage. On June 7, 1945 at 16:00, the Mosquito NF 30, MT-479 crashed near Mornay. This post-war flight was conducted by the Ferry Command with the only purpose to transport the plane from former occupied territory in Italy to England. The plane got an engine failure above France, the pilot tried to make an emergency landing but hit a tree. Another crew member of the aircraft survived the crash.
