Memorial Dr. E.J. Roelfsema

Surgeon Roelfsema was taken from work by the occupier on 29 September 1943 under false pretenses and put out of the car just outside Ruinen. He was 'shot on the run'. The occupier wanted to do something for the resistance. Dr. Roelfsema was a prominent man and was known as a very skilled surgeon at the hospital in Meppel.
