Remembrance Chapel Schmallenberg

This chapel from 1682, was in 1961 converted as a memorial chapel in memory of the residents of Schmallenberg who were killed during World War II.
196 males died at the front and 45 went missing. During the occupation of the city by U.S. forces in the spring of 1945, 9 civilians were killed. Furthermore, 6 displaced persons were killed and 29 Jewish residents of Schmallenberg were killed in concentration camps.
The names of these victims are metioned on labels on the chapel walls.
