Commonwealth War Graves Vevey

St. Martin’s Cemetery in Vevey contains a Commonwealth plot with 48 war graves from the Second World War. There are also 88 war graves from the First World War.

Switzerland was neutral but in the Second World War it accorded asylum to refugees of various types. The commonwealth graves of this period are therefore of either escaped prisoners of war or airmen who crashed in or near Switzerland.
