Stumbling Stones Luxemburger Straße 37

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:

Selma Heilbrunn (born 1910, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)
Frieda Herz (born 1892, faith unknown)
Berta Langstaat (born 1888, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)
Friedericke Levy (born 1863, murdered in Lodz)
Hanni Meyer (born 1884, faith unknown)
Otto Meyer (born 1886, murdered in Lodz on 24-4-1942)
Albert Schaeler (born 1883, murdered in Lodz on 9-5-1942)
Nathan Stern (born 1891, faith unknown)
Johanna Wagner (born 1882, murdered in Chelmno in 1944)
Ellen Karoline Wolff (born 1935, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)
Ernst Wolff (born 1902, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)
Ida Wolff (born 1910, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)

The small copper plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
