Stumbling Stones Elsasser Straße 114

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Luise Blöde (born 1883, murdered in Minsk)
Hedwig Cohen (born 1883, murdered in Minsk)
Heymann Cohen (born 1883, murdered in Minsk)
Klara Cohen (born 1871, murdered in Minsk)
Bernhard Meyer (born 1883, murdered in Minsk)
Hanny Meyer (born 1905, murdered in Minsk)
Ilse Neugarten (born 1936, murdered in Minsk)
Melitta Neugarten (born 1911, murdered in Minsk)
Ilse Stern (born 1910, murdered in Minsk)
Max Stern (born 1876, murdered in Minsk)
Rosa Stern (born 1880, murdered in Minsk)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.

For more information and pictures, please visit Stolpersteine Bremen (in German).
