Stumbling Stones Marktstraße 6

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Sally Hirschberg (born 1875, murdered in Warschau)
Rosalie Hirschberg (born 1881, murdered in Warschau)
Hertha Spanier (born 1908, murdered in Minsk in juli 1942)
Selma Spanier (born 1940, murdered in Minsk in juli 1942)
Elise Blumenthal (born 1868, murdered in Treblinka)
Clara Blumenthal (born 1872, murdered in Treblinka)
Rosalie Spiegel (born 1871, murdered in Auschwitz)
Josef Hirschberg (born 1872, murdered in Auschwitz)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
