Stumbling Stones Emil-Wolff-Straße

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Alma Amalie Rozette (born 1908, murdered in Sobibor on 23-7-1943)
Arthur Goldschmidt (born 1904, murdered in Treblinka)
Else Emilie Ziegelstein (born 1902, murdered in Treblinka)
Herbert Goldschmidt (born 1911, escaped)
Hildegard Koekoek (born 1916, murdered in Sobibor on 4-6-1943)
Julius Goldschmidt (born 1871, survived Theresienstadt)
Margarethe Slort (born 1912, survived)
Paula Goldschmidt (born 1903, murdered in Treblinka)
Ruth Gertrude Goldschmidt (born 1913, murdered in Auschwitz)
Selma Goldschmidt (born 1876, murdered in Theresienstadt on 16-1-1943)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
