Ruins Church Montfaucon-d'Argonne

This church was completely destroyed during the First World War. It's ruins can be visited these days.

The town of Montfaucon-d'Argonne (Meuse department) was built on a hill.
The village soon fell into German hands during the First World War. Little remained of the village itself, nor of the church and monastery of the Benedictine Order that lay on top of the hill. The Germans built various observation bunkers from the remains of the buildings.
