Marfaux Commonwealth War Cemetery

The cemetery was established after the Armistice as a collective cemetery for 26 military cemeteries in the Marne region.

It commemorates 1,129 Commonwealth casualties of the First World War, 340 of whom are unidentified.

There are eight "Special Memorials – Known or Believed to be buried in this Cemetery."

There is also a "Duhallow Block" for 12 Britons buried in other cemeteries but who were not found during the amalgamation.

In Plot VIII – Row C – 1, one Victoria Cross recipient is commemorated: Sergeant John Meikle VC, MM, aged 19, of the 4th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, who was killed in action on 20 July 1918.
