This turret was built in 1882 and originally armed with two Fraser RML 16 inch 80 ton guns. It was modernized with two additional BL 6-inch MK VIIs guns and a searchlight battery just before the start of the First World War. The battery became an 'Home Guard Battery' in April 1944.

All but the two orginally Fraser guns are removed today. The Fraser guns are still inside the turret.
