Grafeneck Castle Extermination Institution

Between 1939 and 1940, 9.839 mental patients were gassed in Grafeneck castle.

The killings began in January 1940 in the first gas chamber of Nazi-Germany. The institution was closed in December 1940 and its personal tranferred to Hadamar.

The castle today:
Today it is possible to visit a documentation centre and memorial place within Grafeneck castle.
