British Shelter near Hellfire Corner

Detached, above-ground bomb-proof shelter located in a field along the Zuiderring, along the former route of the Ypres-Zonnebeke railway, approximately 450 meters southwest of the Hellfire Corner roundabout and approximately 1.800 meters southeast of the center of Ypres.

The shelter consists of a thick layer of concrete poured on so-called "elephant slabs". These types of concrete structures were relatively easy and quick to construct. It soon became one of the British standard designs.
