Monument Freedom Fighters

Hasan Zahirović Laca was a company commander in the 10th battalion Stoottroepen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and after the war a national hero in Yugoslavia. He was born in 1920 in Mostar.
He was slain in the field of Kobilja, near Gacko on April 8, 1943 in the fight against the Italians and Chetniks, where, among other units of the Third Impact Division participated and the majority of the Tenth Brigade Herzegovina.

Mladen Balorda was deputy commander of Mostar Battalion and after the war a national hero of Yugoslavia. He was born in 1921 in Mostar.
On July 15, 1943 he goes into battle with 80 young partisans from Mostar against 200 German soldiers in the village of Stone. The unequal battle destroyed the group Mladenov and he was severely wounded and taken prisoner dies of his injuries.

The two busts pictured for this site are the work of Florijan Mickovic. The bust of Hasan Zahirovic dates to 1985, and the bust of Mladen Balorda dates to some point during the 1980s. This park was chosen as a site or the busts because it was used as a place of public executions during the Second World War, and there is also a monument to mark the place of hanging of revolutionaries Alija Rizikalo and Drago Palavestra approximately 20 metres south of the two busts.
