Memorials Reconstruction Town Hall Augsburg

The Augsburger Rathaus is build in the period 1615 to 1620 by Elias Holl. By the Allied bombing of German cities Augsburg was also hit during the bombing of 25 and 26 February 1944. A large part of the old city was taken, including the Rathaus.

Through this plaque the city of Augsburg expresses his gratitude to "Die Trümmerfrauen" of the city of Augsburg.

Trümmerfrauen were women from the city of Augsburg who removed debris and dirt after the Allied bombings of Augsburg.
The women have contributed substantially to the recovery of daily life in the city and their dedication and commitment should be a warning for the inhuman dictatorship that has come over them.
