Fort de Villey-le-Sec - South Battery

This French fort was built from 1875 to 1879 and modernized between 1903 and 1914. The South Battery was armed with 75mm guns. During the First World War, the fort was manned by a 1301 men strong garrison.

The fort was bombarded by the U.S. Army in 1944.
