Attached to the wall of the ABN-AMRO bank is a memorial plaque with the following text:

13 September 1944
Gulpen was liberated by parts of the American 19th Army Corps under command of general major Charles Corlett

Local History Association Galopia in coöperation with the Municipality Gulpen-Wittem
Plaque unveiled in 12 September 2012
