Memorial Unknown Deserters German Wehrmacht

This memorial, at the Petersberg citadel, commemorates the guilty soldiers under German military law in the Second World War.

These were soldiers who deserted from German Wehrmacht and therefore, resisted the Nazi regime.

About 100,000 soldiers deserted, 30,000 of them stood trial and were sentenced to death. About 20,000 deserters were executed.
