Maginot Line - Fortress Sarts

The Maginot-fortress Sarts (standing on a 19th century fortress) was a component of the Secteur Fortifié de l'Escaut. It was defended by French soldiers of the 87rd RIF in May 1940.

The fort today:
Today it is privately owned. A plaque, attached on one of the casemates, commemorates the fallen French soldiers of Sarts. This ouvrage is not open to visitors.
