Fortress Bellegarde Le Perthus

The fortress Bellegarde was built in the 17th century and has a long history of warfare. During the occupation of France (1940-1944) Bellegarde was used as prison for escaped POW's and enemy agents.

The fort today:
It is currently a historical museum.
