Plaque in the Maritieme Institute "De Ruyter"

The plaque has been mounted in the staircase hallway of the Nautical School.

The text on the wooden plaque can be translated as follows:
Dedicated to
the memory of the former
students of the "De Ruyterschool"
who gave their lives
for the Fatherland 1940 – 1945

Below this text the names of the 174 victims are put in bronze.

The plaque was unveiled on November 4, 1953 and is a gift of former students on the occasion of the then 50-year existence of the school. In the same year the new school in operation.
