Memorial Russian Airmen 1944

This memorial is in memory of the crew of a Soviet fighter plan that was shot down here on 14 July 1944. The pilot, Guards Captain Sergey Milashenko, crashed the burning plane into an enemy position. All crew members were killed in the crash. The pilot was posthumously awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union degree in 1945.
