Railway Tunnel Erpel

This tunnel is located immediately to the east of the Lüdendorffbrücke. On 7 March 1945 the bridge was captured by the Americans, as the only bridge across the Rhine .

During the battle, the tunnel was shelter and command center for the German defenders of the bridge and many citizens.

Today the tunnel is rarely used for theater performances and concerts.
