Widerstandsnest 163 Wallenstein - OB 20mm Flak

This Widerstandsnest (independent infantry strongpoint) was part of the German Atlantic Wall (Atlantikwall).

The OB is an open gun emplacement.

The terrain between the Cap Gris Nez and the Cran aux Oeufs saw the construction of a cosiderable number of bunkers. On the hill dominating the Cran des Sillers an important and large bunker (Sonderkonstruktion) was built at the end of 1940 in order to observe the maritime traffic in the Strait of Dover. Nearby a FuMO 214 Würzburg radar was installed. Flak defence for the radar and the strongpoint was provided by a light Flak gun in an open emplacement. The soldiers manning the strongpoint were billeted in a number of light barracks.
