Resistance member Paulinus Nieuwold from Kolham is married to Dina Edens. Paulinus works at the Bodewes shipyard in Waterhuizen when the strikes break out. He also puts his work down on the shipyard, with all its consequences.
In the night of 3 to 4 May, troops of the order lift Paulinus from his bed. The next day he receives the death penalty. Paulinus, 41, is executed on the grounds of the straw cardboard factory Beukema in Hoogezand. The Germans buried him in an unknown place. He is still missing.
