RAF Fauld Explosion Memorial

This memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum commemorates the explosion of the RAF Fauld underground munitions storage depot, on 27 November 1944. It is believed that about 70 people died in the explosion. It was the largest explosion to occur on UK soil. The crater is know known as the Hanbury Crater.
