Fremantle Coastal Defence Oliver Hill Battery

This Australian coastal battery was built on Rottnest Island between 1937 and 1945 to protect the Australian port of Fremantle and the Perth metropolitan area against an enemy invasion.

The main armament consisted of two 233.7mm guns BL 9.2 inch Mk X.

The battery was part of a network protecting the port with the other batteries on the mainland.

The battery today:
Its possible to take guided tours through the underground tunnel system of the battery.
