Hundred meters above Besançon lies the citadel, a massive dedence compelx datimg from the 16th century. Nowadays it is a tourist attraction with a zoo and sevaral museums. Among the museums is the Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation.

The museum tells about the whole Second World War, not only about deportations and resistance. There are 20 halls with documentation, clothes, weapons and other items. The texts are in French, but some of these are also in German and English.

The museum is really worth a visit when you are in the neighbourhood.
