Fort Stevens

Fort Stevens was built in 1863 and active untill 1947. In the night of 21 to 22 June 1942, the Japanese submarine I-25 fired 17 shells at Fort Stevens, making it the only military installation in the continental America to receive hostile fire during World War II.

The fort today:
It is currently part of the Fort Stevens State Park and can be visited.
