Nikolai-E.-Bersarin-Brücke Berlin

This bridge was named in 2006 after Colonel General Nikolai Berzarin, who's 5th Shock Army fought here during the Battle of Berlin and was the first of all Russian troops to reach Berlin on April 21.

For his merits he was named Hero of the Soviet Union on April 6, 1945 and promoted to Colonel General.

On April 24, 1945, he was appointed the first commander of Berlin. He died in a traffic accident on June 16, 1945.
