War Memorial British Gas Light

The Gas Museum houses exhibitions relating to Fakenham Town itself, including its printing industry, sporting past and wartime stories. Inside is a white marble World War I memorial to 62 men from one gas company.

The British Gas Light Co Ltd
1914-1918
These names shall remain forever and
their glory shall not be blotted out.

Inscribed on the memorial are surnames and first initials of 62 who died – the majority from Norwich.

The memorial was unveiled in 1925. The plastic-covered paper taped to it with the title "The War Memorials" has the history of the memorial – see the photo of the plaque.
